Stimulated by the concept of money and its psychological effects on human welfare, my work is driven by feelings of resentment and frustration towards Western civilisation's fixation on money.

In Western society, one cannot ever feel fully satisfied until they are notably affluent and can sustain expensive products and luxurious inanimate objects, and even then, society persuades people to want more. Focused on themes encircling materialism, greed and mineral extraction, my practice endeavours to instantiate the power of money and the consequences it can have on human welfare and the planet. Using aluminium foil and acrylic paint, I gouge, abrade and scrape into my work, hoping to decompose the audience’s comprehension of security and pleasure, which are feelings usually associated with wealth. Money is the ultimate symbol of happiness in society and I accentuate this idea by creating paintings which exude extravagance, despite being made with inexpensive materials, in order to alter the audience’s perception of the term ‘value’. In terms of materiality, aluminium foil can be bought at a significantly low price; however, it shares a similar semblance to both rhodium and platinum, which are the most valuable precious metals on earth, making it the exemplary material to anchor my theme. I am interested in a pursuing a career as an art director, working within theatre, television or film, whilst continuing my practice alongside.
