This system is illustrated and designed to target social influencers, political activists in Egypt. To convince them that legalising weed is a pathway to many benefits for the Egyptian economy. I want this message to be subtle as well as to create a sense of curiosity to the public.

Part 2: "Eggs look like chicken eyes, staring straight at me." This project focuses on people with strange food phobias and habits. I created a survey and a lot of the responses were strange and not like anything i'd heard before. With these responses, I illustrated the food fears i've learnt about into patterns which fit within an editorial magazine article explaining how people struggle with food phobias everyday. And trying to end the stigma that it is not a 'real' issue or phobia.

Rana Fayad

Growing up in Egypt has inspired me in so many ways and has had a big influence on my work. Egypt has a rich history and the meaning and stories behind hieroglyphic symbols have helped me identify my own illustrative visual language. I have also introduced aspects of politics in my projects and used them to create metaphoric imagery.

My working process is methodical and purposeful. I enjoy exploring the use of different materials and techniques when working in a sketchbook: it allows me to experiment with printmaking, collage and drawing.
