My main practice is figurative oil painting, with conventions of hyperrealism. However, through the process of creating a painting, drawing, photography and Photoshop play a pivotal role in creating a successful painting.

Through mark making, light, shadow, colour and composition my practice aims to create realistic forms and figures which serve as a still reflection on life today through a medium that is hundreds of years old. The monotonous motion of sitting for hours, day after day, becomes a routine and form of expression; every brushstroke, long or short, is considered and affects the painting. Inspired by the Masters like Da Vinci and Caravaggio through technique and composition, while referring to the contemporary world in which we live, my work is personal and often reflective but still has references to pop culture and figures that the viewer can connect with and have an opinion on. I use an archaic variation of materials, charcoal, oil paints and gesso while also using more contemporary processes such as photography and Photoshop. Portraying humans through paint is endlessly fascinating to me: recreating and designing character, emotion and mood, all the raw separate materials become one through time and placement and create something distinct and original. To become a professional artist would ideally be my dream; creating my own original work where I can share my ideas and display my talents. Commissioned work would also be something I would love to do - working with clients, whether for corporate or personal collections. Since I was young, I have also dreamed of working on video games, specifically in the art team, whether this is designing the product itself or helping mould the art direction of the advertising. I plan to continue my education and art practice by studying Fine Art MA next year.
