Jessica Mannings
Painting, to me, is the truest form of self-expression — a tool to untangle and evaluate the complex eccentricities of the mind; an unrivalled method of meditation. Woven intrinsically into the fabric of my practice is an intense inquiry into the elusive and existential nature of reality, the chaos of human experience and a fascination with the human form, all elucidated by the insatiable desire to traverse the innumerable possibilities of oil paint.
Inspired by theories pertaining to spirituality and Abstract Art, my paintings dance between the figurative and abstract, combining representational depictions of the body with painterly configurations, exploring the materiality of my chosen medium. Through spontaneous and expressive creation, my expressive paintings convey a dynamic and raw energy, enabling a tangible translation of both conscious and unconscious states.
