My work is the re-narration of the ancient Welsh Myth "Blodeuwedd". Through the combination of contemporary art mediums (photography), traditional feminine work (textile, work with fabric), and the appropriation of the drama of the legend by Saunders Lewis (text and audio), I re-narrate the legend from a contemporary and feminist perspective. My work has references to the 1970s feminist art movement and to my Welsh heritage and Welsh history/culture.
During my time at Loughborough University, I focused on painting and sculpture for the first two academic years but have explored mixed media work, mostly combining photography with other materials, during my third year. However, my work has consistently been inspired by feminist art, especially feminist art of the 1970s. My career aim is to become a primary school teacher; something I have long been passionate about. Next year I will be enrolling at Bangor University to do a PGCE in Primary Education.
