This is a photograph of two combined acrylic samples which have been laser cut and woven with a combination of neoprene, suede and leather cording.
Appliquéd neoprene on cork
This sample was designed for lighting purposes. I added shaped neoprene onto cork with stitch and cut sections out to allow light to integrate through the sample.
New York - Evening
This is one of my main drawings which influenced a lot of the composition, shape and colour which has featured within my collection. I have also used this drawing as a digital print which I have designed for a window treatment purpose.
Painted and looped acrylic
This sample has been lasered, painted, shaped and incorporates looped suede cording. The use of shape and colour was important in this sample as it helps to explain the continuous and repetitive movement of the city.
This piece is one of three and is part of my "City Scape" collection. The etched shapes and use of colour have been influenced by New York's architecture and each incorporate a different colour pallet to separate the pieces into the "New York - Morning", "New York - Day" and "New York - Evening".
This sample which has been visualised as a decorative light source has been made with looped suede which includes painted gouche on the surface. Each loop has been attached by stitch onto wool felt.
New York - Morning
This digital print on black-out blind fabric, incorporates a layered drawing which has been influenced by the shapes and colours of the city.
Lasered and etched cork
This sample has been influenced by the repetivness of the architecture in New York. This piece has been visualised as another decorative light source.
I am a surface designer renowned for fresh, bright and contemporary design collections. My final collection reflects the theme: The Mood of New York.
This project focuses on my experience of New York when I visited in December of last year. I have combined the different inspirational features such as the city's architecture, surface, material and aesthetics to create a surface design collection suitable for a domestic interior space. My collection has used a variety of processes such as: stitch, plastic shaping, laser and etch work, weave and print using material such as plastic, wood veneer, cork, suede and neoprene. I thoroughly enjoy manipulating material and creating innovative surfaces and with the majority of my collections being designed for an interior setting, I would love to start my career within interior design.
