Da Hyoung Choi
My work archives existing documents, such as photographs and articles from the internet, and translates them into paintings. I have collected images of buildings lost in the war. The destroyed buildings are the theatre, a school and hotel in Yemen, a house in Palestine and a restaurant in Syria. Based on the archived photographs, the buildings are reconstructed on my canvas. They become new images in my painting and will exist forever.
