Vivid Waters
The theme of my collection is focused on water pollution and the endangerment of aquatic life as a result. Water pollution is one of the most detrimental effects of the fashion industry and this collection aims to challenge and change the way fashion is being produced, as it has been designed with sustainability at its core. Each design has been created using more sustainable fabric choices and processes. Materials used consisted of organic and natural fabrics as well as old/discarded materials and glass embellishments. Processes included machine and hand stitch, embroidery and hand cutting. Visually the collection explores the relationship between pollution and aquatic life, displaying this more vividly through the contrasting colour palettes. Techniques that produce texture and fluidity intend to display the nature of the subject explored and encompass the visual research of patterns found in aquatic life.
